Transportation options
The house is located in the historic village and is on the edge of the restricted access zone. You will therefore have direct access to the pedestrian zone while still being able to move around freely and park your vehicles on the property (public car parks = €8/day). The village of Gavarnie is at the bottom of the valley, reached by a winding road, but this does not present any particular difficulty. It is accessible all year round. In winter, you must be equipped in accordance with mountain regulations. In the event of heavy snowfall, it is advisable to temporarily leave your car in the car park located higher up. The road leading to the ski resort is in good condition and is cleared of snow throughout the season.
Neighborhood
From the village of Gavarnie, several exceptional natural sites are accessible on foot: the Cirque de Gavarnie and its Grande Cascade waterfall, the Plateau de Saugué offering a panoramic view of the cirque, and the Oussoue Valley, renowned for its marmots and unspoilt landscapes. Less than 25 minutes away, you can also explore the cirques of Troumouse and Estaubé, the village of Luz-Saint-Sauveur with its Napoleon Bridge and thermal baths, or enjoy the legendary roads of the Pyrenees such as the Col du Tourmalet. The region offers a wide range of activities in all seasons: hiking, wildlife watching, horse riding, skiing, snowshoeing and spa treatments. Gavarnie and its valley provide the ideal setting for discovering the mountains in all their glory.
